“Questions and Answers (Q&A) is a Sitecore Stream capability that enables your customers to ask natural language questions and receive AI-generated answers sourced from your content collection and Sitecore Search domain.”

The purpose of the Q&A is allow the users/clients/viewers of your web site, to ask questions using plain language and receive intelligent answers generated by artificial intelligence that are a true reflection of what exists in your content repository and searched index, and this is what the Q&A capability of Sitecore Stream enables. This conversational exchange comes naturally and fluidly, with customers engaging as though communing with an information-rich support agent instead of slogging through menus or fixed FAQ pages.

And what’s going on under the hood, all responses are fetched from your existing content collection stored in Sitecore Search, meaning there’s no overhead with duplicating or migrating data for this to work. Using the relevance rules, synonyms and ranking logic you’ve already configured.

Important! This AI capability isn’t fully released yet, meanwhile, if you have access to Sitecore Search CEC, you can start configuring it, so when It will be released, you’ll be ready to add It to your implementations, let’s check how to set this up.

1. How to Enable Questions and Answers

To enable Questions and Answers you must select up to 5 attributes from the entities in your domain, and Sitecore Search Search will generate the items relevant to these attributes.

At First, navigate and Login into the CEC Customer Engagement Console

Navigate to Administration>Domain Settings>Feature Configuration>Questions & Answers

Then, select an Entity, additionaly add up to 5 attributes, and Save.

The last step you need to do, in the Feature Configuration page, Click Publish

Before proceed to publish you will see following modal, tick the checkbox to Reindex the sources after publish. Click Publish to proceed.

2. How to Generate Questions and Answers

Once Questions and Answers is enabled, the Q&A Browser tab gives you access to a variety of tools and information related to your questions and their corresponding answers.

Let’s review the Q&A browser tab

In the Navigation Panel at the left, click Content Collection, then Click Questions & Answers

To Generate the Questions and Answers click on “Run Batch Generation

After running the Q&A Generation, wait a couple of minutes, then refresh the page to get a report of the generated Q&A

There you can see the generated Q&A with its corresponding AI generated Keywords and who Managed the item, “Sitecore” for AI generated or Manually Updated

3. How to Manually Add Questions and Answers

In the same page, click on “Add Question & Answer

Then, write the Question, Answer and Keywords

Save your changes, and check the recently added Question in the report

Note: Yo can also Edit or Hide a Question
